Fun Earring Organiser!

Hey Everyone,

Almost a month is gone. I guess I shouldn't get too happy about returning to my blog every time coz whenever I do that, blogging gets jinxed and I am not able to post at all..Not that I don't do crafting...I do and last month did quite a lot (~as per my speed and patience :P~) but have no idea what kept me from posting..Anyways...I'll straight get to the point and that is I made a quick and efficient earrings organizer..no rocket science...just something to help me find my earrings properly. The way my earrings were stored was a nightmare..Wanna see how it looked????

Have a look
Looks hideous!! Ain't it??
This picture was taken by my dearest hubby when while selecting a matching pair for my dress I accidently dropped the box on the floor and when I picked everything up (we all know how it is while you have to get ready, u r running late and your box of accessories falls on the floor!!!!) it was a nice entangled mess..
Hubby had quite a lot of fun mocking at the woman inefficiency of taking time to get ready coupled with such disasters and this picture was meant to be that mock reminder...

However, I didn't allow him much amusement as the very same evening I came up with this earrings organiser and he is quite happy that I could shut him up for this at least...:D :D :D

So over to the organiser..I save the cereal box cardboard by cutting the front and back biggest portion and discard the rest. I had few such lying with me..
I cut them off neatly by trimming off uneven edges and till I was left with neat rectangles. After that, I simply added these printed tapes on the border I had lying with me..I bought them in a stationery fair for really cheap...I guess a dollar or so for the whole set of 10 tapes...:D

After taping the borders, it looked nice, I didnt use a background paper or so as I wanted to keep the background plain so that my earrings stand out but you are free to decorate it as much as you like..I did't decorate either coz my earrings are embellishments in themselves.. lol..
Anyways, after reaching this step, I simply marked some lines with a ruler and made some holes using a compass and cork board and started placing my earrings as per their size...
After placing all the earrings, I just added small balls of blue tack at the back and placed them on a wall (blue tack doesn't spoil walls, so that's a bonus!!) next to my dressing table and its been more than a month and I have never had problems finding my earrings again..Plus it serves as quite a pretty wall art too...:D

I had fun making this, you can of course experiment in n number of ways and make sure your earrings are never lost or entangled again...:D

Let me know how it looks...Love all

Comeback Series 2 - Recycled pen stand and gift tag!!

Hello people,

I am back again with part 2 of the comeback series. This time I am presenting two upcycled projects. A pen stand out of the tea box and a gift tag I made from Dorothy Perkins dress tag..:D

Here goes the making of the pen stand. I made it basically for my sister's colleague who requested her to get it decorated by me and since she was leaving their office for good I thought it would make a nice farewell gift.-
It was a simple aluminium square tea box- the one that contains those fancy flavoured teas :P. I simply selected a bright colored patterned paper and cut it accurately as per the dimensions of the box. This is how it looked once fully covered-
Quite plain eh??? I felt the same and added a punched out border of another contrasting bright color on the edge.
I have used Martha Stewart's all around the page punch for this border and it came out beautifully.
However, when it comes to decorating, everything is incomplete without quilling in my case...well not everything but yeah! most of the the things so I decorated it with some quilled motifs-
I have made a simple 6 petal flower for the front and small closed coil flowers on the adjacent sides. I loved the way it turned out, simple yet striking for its bright colors. It was loved by the owner and I was happy to have put my quilling to some 'real' good use..

Now over to the gift tag I made from a dress tag. The tag consisted of several layers and this was of course the one I couldn't throw as it was extremely sturdy and beautifully blingy..
As usual, I was too impatient to take pics from scratch and I was half done by the time I realised..:P  I simply stuck a piece of leftover scrap from this project in the middle and a flower motif (similar to the one I made for pen stand) on the side.
The ribbon used with the tag is also recycled, its the ribbon that is stuck on the sides of the dresses (part of the same dress whose tag is used here). You can actually see 'Dorothy Perkins' written on the ribbon ..I didn't mind it as I thought this tag would make a perfect accompaniment with a gift for a girl (we all love dorothy perkins, don't we!! :P)
This is no photoshop effect, the tag is actually so blingy that when clicked in natural light and without flash, all its twinkiling gets captured..
I found it pretty and a truly 'recycled' project. Please do let me know your valuable comments/ feedback. They are too too important and of course appreciated.

Much love,

Recycled Craft Box!!

Heya Crafters,

I am back!! Have been quite busy preparing something special for a special friend...:P. But will talk about it later. This post is for my very First Challenge!! that I am participating in and I am very excited about it....
Well, this is my first challenge and secondly it is on something I really enjoy.....recycling. Voila!!

Without much hullabaloo, I will show you the pic...and here it is -
This is my favorite cookie's box. Its a cylindrical cookie box, the ones usually we find at Cafe Coffee day outlets. I found one lying around the house and knew instantly it would make a perfect gift box (Gift boxes can be cylindrical too, right?? :P). I simply covered it with a pretty floral patterned paper and made matching motifs with quilling. There are 4 heart motifs in the central circumference of the box and a quilled flower on the lid with a rhinestone embellishment (which is apparently recycled too as it was taken from a discarded wedding card :)).
I am entering this project in the Crafty Creations Challenges Blog under Recycle, Recycle, Recycle Challenge.
Wish me all the best!!!!
